History
After a successful career as legal counsel for the governments of the Northwest Territories and Canada, and several years as the Director of Court Services, Cayley Thomas opened her own law firm in Yellowknife in 2006. Her practice focused on administrative law, employment and human rights law. Mediation, arbitration and workplace investigations were a natural fit in her legal practice, and over time, Ms. Thomas began to take on more and more alternative dispute resolution (“ADR”) cases and less purely “legal” cases.
In 2013 Ms. Thomas completed her Masters in Law, specializing in ADR. As a former athlete, coach, and parent to children heavily involved in sport, she focused her research in this program on conflict management in community level sport.
In early 2018, to allow her to focus entirely on investigations and conflict management services, Ms. Thomas closed her law practice, and founded Thomas ADR.
